Rumors are swirling of the imminent demise of the critically acclaimed ABC series Pushing Daisies, ever since filming wrapped on the 13th and final episode of the second season a couple days ago. The network has not ordered any further episodes, although it is believed it is trying to lock in the show's principals should the decision be made to greenlight a third season.Despite a slew of Emmy nominations, the dark supernatural comedy has experienced plummeting ratings ever since the writer's strike hit during the show's first season. It was never able to regain the momentum it had before the strike, and the second season debuted to significantly lower ratings than the first season.
The show's creator Bryan Fuller was also the mastermind behind Showtime's highly underrated Dead Like Me. More recently, he was responsible for most of the first season of Heroes--ya know, before it started to suck--and it's rumored that he may return to the beleaguered NBC show should Pushing Daises indeed bite the dust.
This is a show I've just never quite gotten around to checking out, although I always mean to. It does have a strong cult following--just not strong enough, apparently, to keep it afloat.
