Fullmetal Alchemist the movie
Fullmetal Alchemist the movie: Conqueror of Shamballa premiered in Japan on July 23 2005 and is a continuation of the TV series. The story is set two years after the series, and fallows Edward Elric after he is dragged into a different world through the gate, and ends up in Munich Germany in 1923. In this reality (Earth) he can no longer use his alchemical powers. He has spent the past two years researching rocketry with a young man named Alphons Heiderich (who looks like his own brother). Earth is a parallel world to Amestris (Ed’s home world) and because of this ED encounters may familiar faces. After rescusing a gypsy woman named Noa who looks like Rose Ed is thrown back on the path to get him back home.
Back in Amestris Alphonse Elric continues looking for a way to get him his brother back when Wrath takes him back into the underground city. Ed and Al are able to open the gate from both sides and Ed is able to get back to Amestris. He is fallowed by Dietlinde Eckhart who has been working for the Thule Society; on a way to get to the legendary 'Shamballa' in order to gain access to power and weapons beyond belief. When Diethinde crosses through the gate she gets alchemical powers and decides to destroy everything she sees. At this point everyone from the “old gang” joins up and tries to stop her.
I felt that this movie could have been better and was a bit of a let down. It felt as if the movie was slapped together to end the series. If the creators had spent a little more time and possibly made 2 movies then this had the possibility of being really good. I loved the series and was looking forward to this movie so I had very high expectations and I think others like me will feel the same. The movie was not bad enough for me to say give it a miss but I would say don’t get your hopes up.
